Early Career
Scientist Spotlights
Early Career Scientist Spotlight ("ECSS") articles showcase the exciting, high-impact work being done by early career scientists working at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. Our early career scientists are current students, post-baccalaureate researchers, and those within 10 years of their terminal degree. These articles are intended to highlight the research interests, science motivations, and achievements of our early career scientist community. They are also a great way to learn about the work done by the next generation of scientific leaders responsible for the next great missions and field-changing discoveries.
If you would like to nominate a GSFC early career scientist to be featured in a future ECSS article, please contact Jenna Cann, Ross Silver, Ian DesJardin, Megan Hur, or any of our NGAPS+ officers.

“ The challenge of closing this gap, and the thrill of turning abstract models into insights about the Universe, is what keeps me inspired.

“ We directly experience the effects of turbulence in various ways, from encountering atmospheric turbulence during air travel to witnessing the mesmerizing auroral displays.

“ With geospatial foundation models (GFMs), we showed how to learn from limited ground data to develop a generalized model for a large scale—turning what seemed impossible into practical methods.

“ I find it incredibly satisfying to design, build and implement a tangible thing that I can use to address an interesting science question.
